Mangal Pandey – The Rising is an epic story of kinship, double-crossing, love and penance set against the background of what the British called the sepoy uprising however which for the Indians was the First War of Independence. ‘Organization Raj’ as it was known, had been looting the nation, treating local people unfairly and causing boundless hatred. During a savage fight in one of the Afghan wars that the Company battled in the mid-century, Mangal Pandey, the courageous sepoy, spares the life of his British leader, William Gordon.
